The constant stabbing sensation in my frontal lobe encouraged a little morning stroll to search for a coffee grinder for the beans I brought - or at least some place with that coffee scented beverage they make here on The East Coast. Underestimating the distance to down town Hyannis I went in flip flops (I won't be wearing them again soon)and after about a mile and a half was about to turn around at the Zion Union Museum when I saw sign for The Little Sandwich Shop Cafe. No Grinder but a nice little place serving something similar to coffee. Some light is shed on the problem this morning as I looked for those $12 a pound beans only to find the in the freezer. No, no, no, people, no! Bananas, tomatoes, garlic and coffee do not belong in the ice box ever, unless you want to be absolutely certain that they no longer taste good. My ex-professional pastry chef buddy (who is a SF native) thinks it's weird that I put my flour and sugar in the fridge. Must be a habit that is harder to loose than the accent. Yahr.
The water is so warm the kids swam at dinner time while the Kennedy Compound glowed golden off to our left. People appear to be from all over the world enjoying Sea Street beach - I heard at least 3 languages. Walking along the shoreline we crossed over a few people's docks, amazed at these houses. Down by one particularly large and beautiful home you come across a perfect semicircle of seven gigantic lounge chairs carved entirely from granite! Like a lounge chair Stonehenge! A monument to Cape relaxation ensuring that even if future generations have their woes they will never, ever have to worry about buying a piece of lawn furniture again. I happen to gain some insight from a local on how the feat was accomplished and the cost (wow and wow) and apparently the "guy" just got tired of his nice furniture "disappearing" from his dock. " Now those ones aren't going anywheah".
The Cape Cod Carousel and arcade was really fun, and I will say they have much nicer toys for the kids to "buy" with their tickets than Pier 39 back home. Lunch at 586 Main Street Bistro was very nice, we all loved our choices but the Wedge Salad I had has got to be the big winner. Such a blast from the past for me, Iceburg with a spicy blue cheese dressing garnished with pickled red onions, fried shallot and a touch of bacon. The Hubby helped a bit, but only because I just couldn't be so selfish as to keep all for myself. I thought about it though.
