Up the Creek Again and Jacko lives?

Some where around 70 people live year 'round in Hyannisport, MA. During the summer the population "swells" to 250 families so even if you are parking in the nonresident lot there is room and enough beach per capita to spread out. Sea Street Beach is very close to the house we are renting so we've been there the most. Not only is the water warm it is also shallow all the way out to the buoy, and has a great little tide pool filled with creatures for the kids and the water birds to chase around. Yesterday we were the lucky audience for a giant black Cormorant fishing for eels and small fish so close to us humans that it you wouldn't have to reach to pet it. They have a real sharp looking hook on the end of their beaks though, and as elegant as "Corey" was, he had that Michael Jackson "adore and admire me and yes, yes do applaud my super smooth moves, I love you, but don't even think of touching me" kind of look in it's eye, so we didn't.

The family run snack shack above the beach makes some darn tasty burgers and soups - so good we went back for seconds, and about 150,000 times better than what we ate at Up A Creek Again for dinner later. You could end up up the river after a cocktail or two at Up The Creek Again. They are neither shy nor stingy behind the bar and although we were really worried about the future of our gastric health when we first sat down in the place the clam chowder and fried clams were both pretty good. Our waitress steered one of our party away from the Shepherd's Pie with her eyes as wide as one when he inquired. I think she could have warned him off the burger too though.

A couple days a go we went over to Wood's Hole which has the best cafe we have been to on this trip bar none. Pie in the Sky has official hours of 5 am - 11 pm but apparently they bake all night, so if you do too and their lights are on you can get what ever you want when ever. They serve sandwiches on enormous pop overs that are so so so good! There are cute shops, great drinks and awesome fried clams served with slices of pickled Cherry Peppers at the Land fall, a small aquarium with 2 seals outside and the main has a draw bridge right in the very middle of it to let the boats through. Traffic wasn't fun getting there but we were happy to have persevered, it was worth it.

I am so sad to be leaving today, but we will certainly come back next year. Bye Cape.
