Driving in Driving Rain

NOW I remember! If it isn't de-icing the windshield twice before leaving for work in the winter, it's trying to not hydroplane on the highway in the middle of a thunderstorm with visibility only as far as the brake lights one car ahead. Takin' your life in your hands on a regular basis -- just the way they do it back here. I used to laugh at a little blind driving but now could hardly keep lunch down.

Grasonville is a boating and fishing community on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This part of the country is famous for sea food and especially the blue crabs harvested here, but just this morning I overheard a Maryland Waterman saying that the the rain caused so much fertilizer run off from all the farms (chicken, corn, and melon) that it killed off the crop and that they have to ship them in from Louisiana. Not yet confirmed but I have a feeling this guy knew what he was on about.

Speaking about the chicken farms - the chicken here really is way tastier than what we get at home. It's more chicken-y and tender with out being gamey at all. My hostess took me on a walk to cut some mint for mojitos which we enjoyed while she finished grilling some darn good marinated breasts (olive oil, dijon, lemon, garlic, soy) and sweet sausages. Yet another one of my life long friends who has given up bread (yes she looks great) but we had brought the other half of amazing bread from Lloyd's in Lewes and we threw together a big salad.

We are ordering in from Lisa's Small Plates tonight - hope it's good blue crab or no.
