Nintendo World, FAO and The Natural History Museum

Way way way way too many fantastic cocktails with hubby and my two brothers at the Blue Bar downstairs at The Algonquin Sunday night. How many expertly shaken Side Cars or Matilda's does it take to keep the Mrs. asleep until almost lunchtime? Uhm, don't remember actually. Open Mic Night in the lobby was pretty darn amazing even listening from the cocoon that is the Blue Boom. Glass shattering operatic entertainment, $18 drinks and perfectly respectable crab cakes, attended by a bartender one can only call Pro, well, who wouldn't stay for last call? The staff of this hotel is so accommodating and pleasant that entering from the street is almost like a Lost episode in reverse.

Gregory's Coffee just opened across the street with a nice assortment for breakfast or lunch including good looking french style sandwiches that would be a nice picnic grab if one were so inclined.

It's hard to say who had the most fun in Nintendo World, but my husband worked up a pretty good sweat as Pete Sampres on the WII and I had a Pokemon stuffy battle with a very enthusiastic and strange boy I did not know. FAO Schwarz was as always incredible - my daughter brought her baby back for his first check up since we adopted him last year and the nurse took such care in bringing her into the fantasy world of baby doll health care I thought Obama might learn a trick or two. The oddest thing was that they are entirely out of baby's to adopt - two huge "nurseries" empty with signs saying "waiting for the stork to arrive". Creepy.

Dinner was arranged by our friends at Jewel of India right on the same block as the Algonquin which was very nice. I don't remember trying goat before and it was really good. The Vindaloo looked wicked and based on my husbands pate patting I think did the trick.
