Chicken Farms and Blast from the Past

My brother makes the best darn waffles you'd ever want to eat - beats the egg whites separately to end up with the perfect soft and lofty center with a crisp golden exterior. That was a great way to start off our day which included a trip to the Chip-In Farm for fresh chicken and eggs, and penny candy. The kids had a ton of fun feeding lettuce to the goats, chickens and cows. If you go you can ask if they have any old lettuce to feed the animals or if not, just buy some in the store. I forgot the camera and the lovely gal behind the counter actually went out to get her digital camera and let me use it - hopefully she really will email the photos so I can add hem later. In any event it was a very sweet place and we had a very sweet time.

There is just nothing quite like six girlfriends from high school getting together over a "couple" of drinks to catch up after 26 years! We had such a good time with one another at the Cast Iron Kitchen in Maynard where, lucky for me, my old friend tends bar, so we were treated like family all night long. Amazing to see the town look so much the same, and supporting a surprising number of restaurants and shops still. The Maynard Outdoor Store still in business? Pre-Gap, Pre-the new GAP that we no longer "fell into", pre-Jordache and before Filene's evaporated, the Out Door Store was the place to go to get some jeans. Nice to see it there!
